As part of the Morning Ireland sporting moment series, we've been looking back on some of the best moments in Irish sport.

Today we turn to greyhound racing and a memorable moment when legendary Irish commentator Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh interviewed Prince Edward after the 1990 English Greyhound Derby semi-final.

The race favourite was Druids Johno, owned by the late Patsy Byrne, in partnership with Prince Edward.

The protocol didn't exactly go to plan when Ó Muircheartaigh addresses the member of royalty as prince, rather than 'your royal highness’

By all accounts the royal entourage weren’t pleased, but those present say Prince Edward warmed to the Kerryman’s manner.

Druids Johno would finish as runner up to Slippy Joe in the final.

Each week on RTÉ Radio 1's Morning Ireland, Darren Frehill will be delving into the archives to relive the nation's favourite sporting memories.
