On the RTÉ Sport website we like to encourage our readers to get involved in the conversation and from this week onward, those contributing to the comments section are required to sign in to do so.
This is to encourage constructive conversation and comes as a result of feedback from our sizeable community of contributors, many of whom were growing concerned with the level of discord and lack of sensible discourse "below the line".
Sport is and always will be a game of opinions. We love to argue, complain, gloat and disagree almost as much as we love to watch, play and support.
We hope these changes lead to an improved experience for those who like to share their opinions on the top class content on the RTÉ Sport website, be it breaking Irish and foreign news, exclusive interviews or thought-provoking features.
These changes are intended to encourage debate but any comments deemed abusive, racist, sexist or discriminatory in any way will not meet our community standards and therefore will be deleted by moderators.
