Barry O’Neill visited the Inter Counties Surfing Championships in Rossnowlagh where the 50th Anniversary Celebrations of the establishment of Surfing in Ireland were taking place.

The feature tells the story of the fairytale-like beginning for Surfing in Ireland where a Bray man took to the coastal towns on the east and west coasts in 1966 to spread the news about the Sport of Surfing.

Current President of Surfing Ireland Henry Moore welcomes the recent announcement that Surfing will be an Olympic Sport at Tokyo in 2020 and he has hopes for Irish competitors in qualifying.
