Rural Hawaii stepped on the gas on the back straight to win the Irish Greyhound Derby final for trainer Graham Holland.

Holland had three runners in the showpiece, but it was outsider Rural Hawaii (4/1) who delivered him a first Derby success at a poacked Shelbourne Park.

Holycross Leah (7/1) came home second a length back, with evens favourite Sonic a further two lengths behind in third.

“It’s what we all dream about,” Holland told RTÉ Sport afterwards.

“It’s what all the hard work is done for, all the years of dedication. It’s a dream come true for us.”
