Kansas City Royals have won the World Series for the first time since 1985 after a superb 7-2 comeback victory against New York Mets gave them an unassailable 4-1 lead in the seven-match contest.
The Royals were 2-0 down heading into the top of the ninth inning but Lorenzo Cain and Eric Hosmer registered RBIs to cancel out the Mets' lead they had held after scoring singles in the first and sixth inning.
And the game was won in the 12th inning as the never-say-die Royals scored an impressive five runs.
First Jarod Dyson and Christian Colon got to the plate, before Cain hit a three-run double with the bases loaded that allowed Ben Zobrist, Alcides Escobar and Paulo Orlando to get round.
Pitcher Wade Davis then produced three outs to seal the historic win for the Royals.
