Jason Smyth has reinforced his claim on the title of world's fastest para-athlete with a win in Rio de Janeiro.

Smyth won a specially-organised 100m race involving athletes from all disability classes in a time of 10.73 seconds.

The race, on Monday night, was part of a festival to mark one year until the 2016 Paralympic Games in the Brazilian city.

The Derryman will be aiming to defend his 100m and 200m titles in the T13 class for visually impaired athletes at the games.

Smyth won gold over both distances in Beijing in 2008 and defended both his titles in London three years ago.
