Ireland's Natalya Coyle has finished 27th in the Modern Pentathlon World Championships in Berlin.

Germany's Lena Schoneborn was crowned world champion, with China's Qian Chen second and Yane Marques of Brazil third.

Coyle placed 19th in the swim, clocking 200m in 2:17:72, before an 11th place-finish in the fencing, which moved her up to ninth overall.

A 20th place in the riding, knocking three fences and with a one-second time penalty, left her in 12th heading into the combined event. However, a time of 14:21:21 in 40 degree heat saw her drop to a final placing of 27th.

Coyle will compete with Arthur Lanigan O'Keeffe in the mixed relay on Sunday.
