Dubliner Cathal Pendred will fight at UFC 189 after a reshuffle saw the welterweight paired with American John Howard.
Howard had originally been down to fight Brandon Thatch at the MGM Grand on 11 July, however, following an injury to John Hathaway, Thatch has been switched to clash with Pendred's training partner, Icelander Gunnar Nelson, on the same evening.
Pendred steps in for Thatch to face Howard on the event's undercard, while Nelson versus Thatch is fourth on the main billing of the evening.
Pendred was in the octagon as recently as 13 June when he defeted Augusto Montano to go 4&0 in the UFC. If the Whitehall fighter wins again he'll become the only fighter active on the roster to be 5&0 in the competition.
Howard, known as Doomsday, has a 22-11 record in MMA but is on a very different run of form to Pendred, coming off the back of three straight defeats.
Another Dubliner, Neil Seery, is also on the card on the same evening. He will clash with Louis Smolka on the preliminary card in the flyweight division.
