Irish number one Scott Evans fell to world number seven Chou Tien Chen in the first round of the Singapore Open.
Chen, from Chinese Taipei and seeded six in the competition, narrowly took the opening game 22-20 before Evans fought back to take the second 21-12.
However, Chen came out on top taking the final game 21-11 to book his place in the last 16 against Japanese star Kento Momota.
Evans, who has lately climbed to 24 in the world rankings, will now return to training before linking up with Chloe and Sam Magee as they travel to compete at the Australian and Indonesian Super Series events.
