Former Miami Dolphins fullback Rob Konrad is being treated for hypothermia after swimming nine miles (14.5km) back to shore following a fall into the Atlantic Ocean, according to reports in the United States.
The US Coast Guard told Local 10 News in Florida than Konrad had fallen off his boat while fishing off Palm Beach.
It reportedly took Konrad around nine hours to swim back to shore, and he arrived after 4am in the morning.
Konrad, a former second-round draft pick, played for the Dolphins from 1999 to 2004, rushing for 114 yards and one touchdown and catching 111 passes for 854 yards and six touchdowns in six seasons.
