Colin Kaepernick tossed three touchdown passes to lead the San Francisco 49ers to a 31-17 victory over the St Louis Rams on Monday night.
The Rams appeared in throwback jerseys to honour 'The Greatest Show on Turf' and, at least early on, they lived up to the billing as they took a 14-0 lead on Benny Cunningham's 1-yard run and a 22-yard touchdown pass from Austin Davis to Lance Kendricks.
But the 49ers soon shut them down as their defence took hold, sacking Davis five times.
That gave Kaepernick the platform he needed as he threw touchdown passes to Brandon Lloyd, Anquan Boldin and Michael Crabtree, giving the 49ers their third win in a row.
