Irish number one Scott Evans has booked his place in the last 16 of the 2014 World Badminton Championships in Denmark after beating David Obernosterer of Austria in straight games.

Evans continued his good form after winning the Brazil Grand Prix event as he eased through the opening game 21-7. Evans started the second game a little slower and fell 18-10 down. At this point of the game he regained form and took 11 consecutive points to take the game and match with a 21-18 scoreline.

On Thursday, Evans will play the winner of Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia, the number one seed and world number one, or Dieter Domke of Germany, who Evans beat in the final in Brazil.
