Irish sailors Ger Owens and Phil Lawton have won their second race in the 470 class.
The pair started the day in 13th place overall but the race victory in the Yellow Sea saw them jump four places in the overall classification.
The Irish crew led the race from the start and at every mark throughout to finish ahead of the field.
Italy finished today’s race in second place behind the Irish followed by overall leaders Australia in third.
Their second race of the day didn't go to plan and the crew finished in a disappointing 25th place, which saw them fall back to 11th place on 56 points.
If Owens and Lawton can finish the series of races inside the top ten, they will qualify for the medal race at the end of the week.
Meanwhile, Ciara Peelo finished in 15th position and is now in an overall position of 23rd in her Laser Radial class.
Following a rest day the Finn class also resumed racing today. Tim Goodbody placed 22nd in race seven while race eight is now scheduled to take place tomorrow. Goodbody lies in 22nd overall with 98 points.
Light winds on a hazy afternoon in Qingdao meant just one of the two scheduled Finn races were completed.
The Yngling, Laser and Laser Radial classes also only managed just one race, although a full programme was completed in the 49er and 470 fleets.
