Ireland's Alex Dunne has claimed his first grand prix victory in FIA Formula 2 after winning the Bahrain feature race on Sunday.
Dunne competed in Formula 3 last year but made the step up to F2 for 2025, racing with the Rodin team.
Having qualified fourth for Sunday's main race, the McLaren development driver went on to make history by becoming the first Irishman to win at F2 level - the rung directly below Formula One.
The Offaly man made a brilliant start and capitalised on errors from a number of his rivals to improve to second on the opening lap, behind race leader Leonardo Fornaroli of Invicta Racing.
On lap seven, Dunne utilised the Drag Reduction System (DRS) to overtake Fornaroli, with the latter's tyres losing traction.
Dunne ended up pitting a lap later than his nearest pursuers, Fornaroli and Josep Maria Marti of Campos Racing, with the 19-year-old fitted for hard tyres after lap 17 and exiting the pits ahead of ART Grand Prix's Victor Martins in second.
Dunne displayed impressive composure to coast to an eight-second victory over Marti's Campos Racing team-mate Luke Browning, with Fornaroli back in third.
After two rounds of the F2 Drivers' Championship, Dunne shares second spot with Browning on 25 points, just one point behind overall leader Fornaroli.
Round three of the championship takes place next weekend at Jeddah Corniche Circuit in Saudi Arabia.
Dunne said afterwards: "I have no words, to be honest. I knew the pace was strong coming into the weekend.
"I was a bit disappointed after yesterday - I wasn't really happy with the job I did - but I think today I redeemed myself and bounced back really well."
