The Italian Grand Prix was halted on Sunday to allow for repairs to the tyre barrier after Ferrari's Charles Leclerc crashed heavily at Monza's Parabolica.
Leclerc, whose team mate Sebastian Vettel had already retired with brake failure, clambered out of the car apparently unscathed after the incident on the final corner of the lap at the historic circuit.
"It's a big crash," the Monegasque said on the team radio.

Mercedes' six times world champion Lewis Hamilton was leading the race but had yet to serve a 10 second stop/go penalty for entering the pit lane after it had closed, leaving the strong possibility of an unexpected winner when the race restarts, with team-mate Valtteri Bottas having endured a poor start and Max Verstappen of Red Bull, who is second in the championship, currently outside the top ten.
Racing Point's Lance Stroll who was up to second before the temporary halt is the only driver who had not pitted prior to Leclerc's crash.
The second half of the race which was at the halfway stage has resumed behind the safety car.
