RTÉ Sport understands that Dungannon's Kris Meeke and his Killarney co-driver Paul Nagle will be returning to the World Rally Championship (WRC) next season, after agreeing a deal with Toyota for the 2019 season.

Citroen sacked the pair earlier this season as a result of "too many crashes" and since then both Meeke and Nagle have remained silent on their WRC future.

Now it seems that the pair will be reunited again, this time at Toyota, whose rally division is run by five time WRC title winner Tommi Makkinen, .

The team are set to announce next week that Meeke will partner Ott Tanak and Jari-Matti Latvala in Toyota's three car line-up.

Makkinen has still to make an official announcement but has been speaking to Meeke and Waterford's Craig Breen who is coming to the end of his two  year contract at Citroen

Breen has stated that he has a new contract in place for next season but that is increasingly likely to be at the M-Sport Ford team as a replacement for world champion Sebastian Ogier who is moving back to Citroen next year.
