Michael Schumacher's manager Sabine Kehm has opened up on the seven-time Formula One world champion's condition and said she hopes "he will one day be back with us".

The German is still receiving intensive treatment at his home in Switzerland following severe head injuries that he suffered in a skiing accident in France in December 2013.

His former Ferrari boss Luca di Montezemolo previously admitted the latest news on the 47-year-old was "not good", and Kehm expressed her hope that he will find the strength to pull through.

"He is the most successful driver in history and sometimes, on days like this, it is good to be reminded of it," she said at the opening of an exhibition in Marburg, Germany.

"Of course, Michael is not here and of course we miss him. We know what has happened and cannot change it.

"We must accept it and hope with everything we have that with continued support and patience he will one day be back with us. Racing was his life and no one would have liked to have been here more than him."

Di Montezemolo shared his deep sadness at the iconic driver's condition at the start of the month, saying: "Life is really strange. He was the most successful driver with Ferrari, he had a single serious accident in his career in 1999 and that was our fault, not his."

FIA president and former Ferrari team principal Jean Todt said: "I see Michael very often and Michael is still fighting.

"Michael is a close friend, his family is very close to me and I am very close to them as well. We must keep him fighting with the family."
