Josh Moffett (Ford Fiesta WRC) held off the challenge of his older brother Sam to win their local event, the Monaghan Rally, round three of the Triton Showers National Rally Championship.
At the finish the pair were separated by a margin of 5.1 seconds.
Throughout the rally they served up a terrific duel along with Triton Showers series leader Donagh Kelly (Ford Focus WRC).
Indeed, all three held the lead at various stages of the opening loop of three stages.
By the end of the loop, Josh Moffett led Kelly by 3.7 seconds as Sam Moffett lost time with an overshoot.
On the second loop Josh, despite an off road excursion that damaged the wing of his Fiesta WRC, extended his advantage with his brother Sam slotting into second – 8.8 seconds behind with Kelly third.
Although Sam Moffett cut the deficit to just 3.8 seconds with two stages remaining, Josh was able to withstand the challenge and went on to finish 5.1 seconds ahead of his brother while third was enough for Kelly to extend his lead in the Triton series.
Defending champion Declan Boyle (Subaru WRC) was a non-starter due to transmission problems.
Declan Gallagher (Toyota Starlet) won the Modified section and Martin Doherty (Mitsubishi) took the laurels in the Group N showroom class.
