Donagh Kelly triumphed in the second round of the Triton Showers National Rally Championship as he steered his Ford Focus WRC car to a dramatic victory in the Midland Moto Rally in Roscommon.
Declan Boyle (Subaru WRC) held a lead of 15.7 seconds entering the final stage but a puncture cost him over four minutes as he plummeted to eighth.
Kelly, who was recording his second win of the series, also won the power stage and moved into the lead in the series by seven points from Monaghan’s Niall Maguire (Subaru WRC), who finished just over two minutes behind in second, with Alan Ring (Subaru WRC) back in third.
For the second event in succession the Motorsport Safety Group N category was won by Aidan Wray (Mitsubishi), who also won the Triton Showers Drive of the Day. The Modified section was won by Gary McPhillips (Escort).
