Switzerland and Ireland have taken pole positions for tomorrow’s two A1 Grand Prix Races races in Sepang in Malaysia, writes RTE Sport's John Kenny.
Neel Jani gave Switzerland pole position for the sprint race while Ireland's Adam Carroll had to be content with seventh place on the grid.
However, Carroll took the feature race pole for A1 Team Ireland with Great Britain's Danny Watts in second.
Carroll took the front row place with a lap time of 1m 47.124s.
Teams were allowed to use the new PowerBoost button for an entire lap of qualifying for the first time today.
'That was my first pole for the feature race and I wanted that one badly,' Carroll said.
'It was quite a good lap but obviously there is the PowerBoost and that's when I chose to use it.
'It's going to be hot tomorrow, so we will be even redder and sweatier.
'There is not much you can do in England to prepare for temperatures like this, not only is it hot but it's really humid and that's what makes it quite difficult.'
Ireland lie in joint second place in the standings after two rounds, five points behind Malaysia.
