Irish 250cc Grand Prix rider Eugene Laverty heads to Donington Park this weekend for the British Grand Prix on Sunday.
This offers a great opportunity for Laverty to improve his position in the MotoGP World Championship, as it is a circuit he knows well.
After the long straights of Mugello and Barcelona, Laverty will be relieved to return to a Donington circuit where horsepower is not everything.
‘I’m really looking forward to riding at Donington again as I really felt at home there last year,' Laverty said.
‘I know the place very well, so it’s the one circuit on the calendar where I’m not lacking in track knowledge.
‘The past few races have been really frustrating due to the kilometre long straights but I’ll have no such problems at Donington.
‘I believe I can achieve my best result of the season on Sunday but I feel no added pressure to do so.
‘I feel enthusiasm ahead of my home Grand Prix as my family, friends and my personal sponsors will all be watching from trackside and urging me on throughout the race.
‘My kit Aprilia may not be at the level of the official bikes, but even still I don’t think I’ve yet shown the true potential of what I can achieve on this bike.
‘I have three important races before the summer break now so it’s time to take it up a notch.’
