Williams driver Nico Rosberg was taken to hospital for precautionary checks after a big crash in the Monaco Grand Prix.

The German, who lives in the Mediterranean principality, slammed into the barriers at the swimming pool complex on the 62nd of 76 laps.

The impact left debris across the track and brought out the safety car for the second time.

The son of Finland's 1982 world champion, Keke, had already had two collisions before that on the wet and slippery track and had twice pitted for a new front wing.
