Fernando Alonso has unsurprisingly returned to Renault following a personally traumatic season with McLaren.
Alonso has opted to rejoin the team that made him world champion in 2005 and 2006 next season, finally ending speculation regarding his future.
The move comes in the wake of motorsport's world governing body, the FIA, deciding not to punish Renault for their role in the spy scandal, despite finding them guilty of fraudulent conduct.
Alonso will return race alongside Brazilian Nelson Piquet junior next season.
'Fernando and Nelsinho will form one of the most exciting driver line-ups of 2008,' said Renault team boss Flavio Briatore in a statement.
Frenchman Romain Grosjean, the F3 Euroseries champion, completes the line-up as test and reserve driver.
Piquet, whose father and namesake was a triple champion in the 1980s, was test driver during the past season after finishing runner-up to Britain's Lewis Hamilton in the 2006 GP2 feeder series.
