Casey Stoner claimed his second MotoGP win of the season to grab the lead in the championship with victory in Turkey.

The Ducati Marlboro rider won the Istanbul race from the Honda of Toni Elias and the second factory Ducati of Loris Capirossi.

Stoner, who led for most of the race and finished 6.2 seconds ahead of Elias, capitalised on a first lap error by five-time Italian world champion Valentino Rossi, who began on pole.

Stoner moved 10 points clear in the championship as previous leader Rossi could only finish 10th in Turkey on the Fiat Yamaha, three places behind reigning champion Nicky Hayden on the Repsol Honda.

The 125 cc race was won by Simone Corsi (Aprilia) as Scottish teenager Kev Coughlan was an impressive 21st on only his second GP appearance and Danny Webb was 23rd.

The 250cc race was a three-way battle in the closing stages before Andrea Dovizioso snatched the win on the last lap on the Humangest Honda after getting the better of championship leader Jorge Lorenzo (Fortuna Aprilia) and Alvaro Bautista (Aspar Aprilia).
