Cool and wet conditions resulted in incident-filled practice sessions in preparation for Sunday’s Mexican A1 Grand Prix in Monterrey.
Ireland’s Ralph Firman had his opening practice session badly affected due to a brake problem caused by a fault with a new master cylinder but he recovered well in session two to set the 8th fastest time in spite of a number of red flag stoppages.
With regular race engineer Andy Miller not due to arrive in Mexico until this evening the A1 Team Ireland car’s engineering was jointly overseen by Team Manager Dave O’Neill, from Co Kerry in Ireland, and Chief Mechanic John Hibberd.
