RTÉ will show highlights of each round of the 2006 World Rally Championship.
Glen Killane, RTÉ Head of TV Sport, said today: "We are delighted to be bringing highlights of the WRC to our viewers for the first time. RTÉ's coverage of this year's competition is timely, with Ireland bidding to qualify for a round of the championship in 2007.
"Our coverage should whet the appetite of the public for the sport and give them an insight into what they could expect if a round of the WRC is staged here next year."
Meanwhile, Eoin Murray scooped the Dunlop Irish Motorsport International Driver of the Year award at a ceremony in Dublin's Radisson Hotel today.
Murray claimed the European Alfa 147 series in 2005 and has won the Young Racing Driver of the Year on two occasions.
The late Noel Smith was posthumously inducted into the Motorsport Ireland Hall of Fame.
