Ireland's Ralph Firman finished fourth in the A1 Grand Prix in Dubai today as Switzerland's Neel Jani recorded his first victory of the season.

The Swiss driver won easily from Italy's Enrico Toccacelo, who finally found his form after a difficult start to life in the new series.

Tomas Enge rounded out the podium for the Czech Republic.

France started the sixth round of the new championship on the back of a remarkable eight successive wins, but Nicolas Lapierre's spin in race one finally ended that streak and allowed Jani a clean run to take his first win in A1. But the Swiss driver lost ground in the title battle after a disastrous second race.

Jani's troubled race, which included a drive-through penalty, left him out of contention and Switzerland slipped 31 points adrift of France in the title race.
