Red Bull have confirmed that Franz Tost will become the new team principal of Squadra Toro Rosso.
Tost, who is currently a senior figure in BMW's motorsport operation, will take over the Minardi team, who Red Bull bought from Paul Stoddart and renamed, on January 1 next year.
Tost said: "In my six years at BMW I learnt a lot, especially on the technical side and for this I want to thank BMW.
"My appointment as team principal at Squadra Toro Rosso offers a great new challenge that I am looking forward to taking on."
Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz added: "Franz is a very experienced Formula One insider, who fits well within our new team."
Squadra Toro Rosso, which means Team Red Bull in Italian, has been established as a proving ground for young Red Bull-backed drivers.
The exact destination of the soft drink giant's drivers has yet to be confirmed but is expected Tost's team will have Vitantonio Liuzzi and rookie Scott Speed racing next year.
The Red Bull Racing team, which is the pinnacle of Mateschitz's Formula One masterplan, will retain David Coulthard with Christian Klien his likely team-mate. GP2 driver Neel Jani is expected to test.
