Seventeen-year-old Niall Quinn from Dunboyne, Co Meath, has won a five-year contract, valued at €100,000 a year, with the Red Bull Junior Racing Team this week at a trial at the A1 racing circuit in Estoril, Portugal.
Quinn won the Irish Red Bull High Kings of Karting and was flown out to Portugal to an intensive two-day trial for the Red Bull Junior Racing Team.
Four successful applicants, including Quinn, will now be placed in a Formula racing series in Europe. It will probably be the BMW series in the UK.
