Red Bull Racing have brought in former Renault technical chief Mark Smith.
The 43-year-old Englishman left Renault to return to Jordan at the end of last season but his stay there lasted only a matter of weeks before he left in the wake of Midland's take-over of the team.
Now he has joined the new Red Bull squad as deputy technical director.
Red Bull sporting director Christian Horner said: "I'm delighted that we have managed to secure Mark's services at Red Bull Racing.
"He brings race-winning experience to the team and will form an important part of the foundations we are putting into place."
