Former world champion Jacques Villeneuve has ruled out taking part in a 'race-off' in order to keep his seat at BAR next season. The Canadian has ridiculed plans for a reality television style competition, which reports claim will decide who gets to drive for BAR next season.
Villeneuve, who is Formula One's only active champion apart from Michael Schumacher, said: "I had a shoot-out in 1997. A shoot-out is for new, up-and-coming drivers. I wouldn't do it, you wouldn't do it and Madonna wouldn't do it."
The Canadian driver, who beat Schumacher to the the Drivers Championship in 1997 believes that he is being forced out of BAR because engine partners Honda want Japan's Takuma Sato to drive for the team next season. Sato endured a torrid time during his spell driving for Jordan, however Honda are still keen on him as they believe he could raise their profile in Asia.
