Coulthard hoping for Monaco repeat

David Coulthard is convinced he can produce another Monaco masterclass on Sunday and fire himself back into World Championship contention. The 32-year-old Scot will resume his challenge on the streets of Monte Carlo tomorrow after today's traditional rest day having posted the fifth best time in yesterday's first qualifying session.

Coulthard was almost 0.8 seconds adrift of Michael Schumacher's Ferrari but is confident he can still triumph in the race for the third time in four years having won in 2000 and last season. "I really believe that if I have a winning car then I can win this race, said Monaco-based Coulthard."

"We don't know yet if this is a winning car. We were pretty conservative in first qualifying. I could have gone a bit faster and I am not too concerned about the gap to Ferrari." Coulthard badly needs to repeat last year's famous win after falling 17 points behind McLaren team-mate Kimi Raikkonen and 15 adrift of Schumacher who has won the last three races.
