Firman officially confirmed as Jordan driver

Ralph Firman was officially unveiled as Jordan's new Formula One driver this morning. The 27-year-old, who holds dual nationality as he has an Irish mother, will partner Italy's Giancarlo Fisichella as the Silverstone based team ended weeks of speculation by finally filling the last remaining seat for 2003, vacated last season by Takuma Sato.

"I still can't believe it - it has not really sunk in yet, said Firman. "That first race is going to be special, but there is a lot of work to do yet. This is what I have always dreamed of and I have never given up hope of getting into F1."

"I am really looking forward to the new season and with the new points system, with points going down to the top eight, hopefully I will have some good opportunities to score points," he added.
