New Renault R23 unveiled

Renault unveiled their new R23 Formula One car in Lucerne, Switzerland today. The blue and yellow car is the team's second since returning to F1 as a chassis builder, and with number one driver Jarno Trulli joined by Fernando Alonso in the driving line-up, expectations are high for the coming season.

Trulli said: "Over 500 people have invested their passion, determination and hard work in making it happen…..It is an honour to be competing in grands prix as a Renault driver." The R23's main distinguishing feature over its predecessor, which lifted Renault to fourth in the constructors' standings, is a drooping nose similar to that seen on last year's Jordan.

Meanwhile, Jaguar Racing have appointed Briton Ian Pocock as director of engineering at the Ford-owned team. The team said in a statement that Pocock would join from Pi Research in February to concentrate on a management role while Australian chief engineer Malcolm Oastler led the technical side.

"I hope to eliminate, via the application of good engineering practice, some of the more obvious mistakes that Formula One teams can make," said Pocock. Jaguar launch their new R4 car on Tuesday after finishing a disappointing season in seventh place overall.
