Former Toyota Forumla One driver Allan McNish has admitted that he would relish a move to Indy Racing, after testing for Team Penske this week. The Scot was dropped by the Toyota F1 team after a season that saw him fail to claim a single point, but he is refusing to be downbeat over his future and feels that Indy Racing may give him a chance to get his career back on track.
McNish clocked up impressive times during his 125 laps of the California Speedway in Fontana, while he was testing with Team Penske, and was delighted with his display. "It was a great experience. I'm pleased to have run speeds that would have been competitive during last March's event, especially as I had the 2003 engine spec and chassis set up," he said.
"The Penske team were extremely supportive and gave me plenty of encouragement. We completed a short test programme as well, giving me a chance to run at speed, so overall it was a very productive day. I enjoyed my time in the car and it's fired my enthusiasm," he added.
