Fisichella given all-clear for German GP

Jordan driver Giancarlo Fisichella will race in this weekend's German Grand Prix after being given the all-clear following his high-speed crash at Magny Cours last weekend. Fisichella missed the French Grand Prix on Sunday after his Jordan-Honda slammed into a tyre barrier during final practice on Saturday morning, missing a concrete wall by a few metres.

The 29-year-old, who has made 101 race appearances, was taken by stretcher to a waiting ambulance before then being air-lifted to a local hospital where he underwent a routine check up.

He suffered nothing more than a headache and a sore neck, but was advised by Formula One's chief medical officer Professor Sid Watkins not to take part in the race due to the considerable deceleration he experienced in the accident.

The Rome-born racer was immediately sent home and ordered to rest before undergoing another medical with Professor Watkins at Hockenheim early this afternoon.

The German Grand Prix is a vital one for Jordan as Deutsche Post are one of their principal sponsors, but following the latest check-over a team spokesperson confirmed, "Giancarlo is fit to take part in this weekend's race."
