The Arrows Formula 1 team have yet to confirm whether or not they will compete at this weekend's French Grand Prix. The team members only set off for Magny Cours yesterday following talks to secure the company's future and discussions with shareholders are still on-going as they attempt to finalise a rescue package.
In the lead up to the British Grand Prix earlier this month, Arrows' drivers were left sitting on the sidelines during the Friday practice sessions as team owner Tom Walkinshaw battled against time to pay a £3.2million bill from engine manufacturer Cosworth. He eventually did so by using his own personal finances.
However, the team were keen to emphasise today that they were not having problems with Cosworth this time around. "Arrows would like to clarify that, contrary to today's press reports, our participation in the French Grand Prix has nothing to do with engine supply. All payments to Cosworth Racing are up to date and, as stated before, the terms of the agreement are confidential. The issues we have are nothing to do with Cosworth, they are to do with one of our shareholders. We are still in discussions and, as we said yesterday, will do all in our power to compete this weekend," read the statement.
