The immediate future of the British Grand Prix has been secured after the world governing body, the FIA, gave their blessing to improvements made at Silverstone. The Northamptonshire circuit has been blighted with traffic problems in recent years, with the future of Formula One in Britain placed in doubt after rain wreaked havoc in 2000.
The FIA had demanded a bond of $5 million be lodged with them to guarantee that improvements to access roads would be put in place in time for this year's race on the 7th of July.
After Government intervention Silverstone's £10million programme was completed on time and the FIA have now returned that bond, with president Max Mosley declaring himself happy with improvements.
