Sato recovering after Austrian crash

Jordan driver Takuma Sato is recovering in hospital after a horror crash during yesterday's Austrian Grand Prix in Zeltweg. The Japanese driver was t-boned by Sauber's Nick Heifeld during the race and was immediately air-lifted to hospital.

Fortunately, the 25-year-old suffered only soft tissue damage to his right thigh and was only kept in the University Hospital in Graz overnight for observation. It has not yet been decided if he'll participate in the Monaco Grand Prix on May 26.

Team boss Eddie Jordan admitted he had mixed emotions after the race, in which Giancarlo Fisichella secured the team's first points of the season when he finished in fifth place. "I have mixed emotions at the moment. Takuma's accident was horrible and it took my mind away a little until I had spoken to Professor Sid Watkins and knew that Takuma was okay.

"Giancarlo drove like a champion. This result has changed the morale in the team and for everyone at the track and our headquarters, this is just reward for all our recent efforts," said the Irishman.
