Australia's Troy Bayliss maintained his perfect record in the world superbike championship with victory in the first race of the South African leg of the series at the Kyalami racetrack on Sunday. The win in the third round of series took Bayliss to five out of five wins for the season, the first time any rider has won the first five races of the year. It also equalled the record of five wins in a row.
American Colin Edwards, who started on pole position, was second after dropping back to fifth place in the early stages of the race.
