Jenson Button is confident he can overcome the disappointment of missing out on the maiden podium finish of his career by getting among the points again in Brazil next week. The 22-year-old was robbed of third place in yesterday's Malaysian Grand Prix when a suspension failure in his Renault allowed world champion Michael Schumacher to overtake him on the final lap.
But Button is clearly relishing being a Formula One driver again after the difficult days in the then Benetton last year and knows that more points – and possibly a podium - are on the way. "I didn't think I would ever be disappointed with fourth but I am because third was there," Button said, who finished almost 70 seconds behind the Williams-BMW of race winner Ralf Schumacher.
"A podium was definitely on the cards so it is disappointing. I could see Michael was catching me, but I knew he couldn't catch me before the end until I had the problem. The car just went up on three wheels," Button added.
"My confidence in the car is coming back big-time. I don't think myself or the team put a foot wrong in the race. I think we can get points at the next race in Brazil as well, but third will be tough at this stage of the season."
