Button's future in doubt

22-year-old Jenson Button has been warned that it will be several months before his Formula One future is sorted out. Team chief Frank Williams, the man who gave Button his grand prix breakthrough in 2000, has an option on Button after he completes his two-year loan deal with Renault this season.

Williams has to decide whether to take Button back which will have an embarrassment of riches as far as drivers are concerned in 2003. As well as Ralf Schumacher, contracted to the team until the end of 2004, and Juan Pablo Montoya - Williams have an option on him until 2004 - they have also signed exciting young Brazilian Antonio Pizzonia as test driver for this year.

Williams is in no hurry to decide his driver line-up for the 2003 campaign, saying: "We are in a very good position regarding our drivers. There is no need to rush into any decision. This will all be sorted out during the course of the season."
