Rathfarnham's Michael Devaney, recently named Young Racing Driver of the Year, completed a successful Formula Renault test at the Spanish Guadix circuit on Monday when he drove for multiple British championship winning team Manor Motorsport. The 17-year-old, who is aiming to graduate to the ultra competitive category in 2002, impressed the team after completing 173 laps of the 3km track which is located near Granada.
A double race winner in the Irish Formula Ford Zetec Championship this year, Michael is hopeful of securing a top drive in next season's British Formula Renault Championship. In January the much talked about teenager will travel to Las Vegas for a week's training at the Derek Daly Motorsport Academy which, along with £20,000, was part of the Dubliner's prize after winning the Young Racing Driver of the Year award.
