Several sponsors of the American Grand Prix are withdrawing their support for the event, following the tragedies in the country two-weeks ago. In addition, many corporate guests are cancelling their hospitality packages, as Formula 1 feels the backlash from the atrocity. Formula 1 has already embroiled itself in controversy, by refusing to cancel the event. Some drivers, among the Michael Schumacher feel that racing is inappropriate, but the race is going ahead nonetheless.
The event in Indianapolis is suffering from the unease in America about both air-travel and public gatherings. Mark Gallagher, a spokesman for Jordan said: "As a general statement American sponsors are not travelling to their home grand prix, because of a ban on executive air travel."
Gallagher added that the European sponsors were expected to attend the race, confirming that several high-profile sponsors had already confirmed their attendance.
