The FIA, the world motorsport governing body, have summoned the organisers of the Brazilian Grand Prix to a meeting of their world council in Paris on the 6th of April. The practice session at the Interlagos track was disrupted three times when advertising hoardings fell onto the circuit. Having examined reports from the officials with regard to the incidents, the FIA say that the organisers may have a case to answer.
The meeting will take place three days after McLaren's appeal against the disqualification because of alleged technical irregularities of their driver, David Coulthard, who finished second.
Eventual race winner Michael Schumacher said at the time, "It could have been very dangerous if someone had been hurt." Meanwhile the elder Schumacher, the double world champion, was in Dublin today at the Alfa Romeo exhibition were the main topic was his decision to leave Jordan after just one race in 1991. The Formula One star was in Ireland to attend the Alfa Romeo car exhibition at the RDS.
