Shauna Bannon came up short in her UFC debut in London on Saturday as Bruna Brasil recorded a unanimous-decision win over the Irish fighter.
Bannon, who had never tasted defeat in five previous MMA encounters, started hesitantly and her Brazilian opponent landed a shuddering kick to the head in the opening round.
Referee Dan Movahedi coaxed both women to their feet in the second round after a protracted bout of grappling and the 29-year-old Dubliner can take encouragement in her strong finish to the fight in the third round.
Brasil's win improved her career record to 9-3-1.
