Could they do it again? Conor McGregor thinks so

Conor McGregor hinted at the possibility of a rematch of his boxing bout with Floyd Mayweather during at a meet-and-great event in Glasgow.

The two-weight UFC Champion suffered a 10th round TKO when he took on the unbeaten boxer in a much hyped fight in Las Vegas back in August.

At the time Mayweather insisted that he would not return to the ring after retiring with a perfect 50-0 record, but McGregor believes he could yet be tempted back for a rematch and claims that he would emerge victorious this time.

In a wide-ranging conversation, the Dublin fighter said that financial woes could force Mayweather to return to the ring and that he’s convinced he would have enough to overcome the American this time.

McGregor was, as is nearly tradition now, almost an hour late to the event but soon got into the swing of things making a grand stand entrance.

The Dubliner also spoke about his next potential opponent in the UFC as Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee are set to go head-to-head for the ‘interim’ lightweight title at UFC 216.

The winner of that bout will hope to fight McGregor in a title bout as the Irishman has yet to defend the lightweight belt he won last November.

However McGregor would not commit to a title defence only saying that he wanted to: ‘see what these two fools do this weekend’.

McGregor also raised the prospect of fighting Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov in Russia, in what would be a real MMA super-bout.

UFC president Dana White had previously claimed that McGregor approached him with the idea of fighting Khabib on his home soil.

The other UFC opponent who appears to interest the Irishman is the legendary Georges St-Pierre who takes on Michael Bisping at UFC 217.

However McGregor said that he believes Bisping will win that bout and end the prospect of a showdown between the Dubliner and St-Pierre.
