John Mullane: Watertight Limerick can edge Cork in Division 1A hurling decider

Division 1A final: Limerick v Cork

I think Limerick are still a bit sore after losing that Munster final to Cork last summer, though technically they didn't lose it, they lost it on penalties. Ben O'Connor will be eager to get silverware early doors in his managerial career and John Kiely will be eager to get back to winning silverware.

It's lovely the way it is set up and we are going to get a blockbuster game. I don't think either team or either manager will be looking too far ahead and thinking about that fixture (Munster round-robin) in three weeks' time. I see Limerick coming out on top, given that they have home advantage, and winning by a small margin of two or three points.

It will be interesting to see how Cork set up. Under Pat Ryan, they got a lot of joy going three up top, three inside that full-forward line. Will they play an extra body back in defence? Could we have Rob Downey sitting on the edge of the D? We know the way Limerick set up; their structure hasn't changed in the last six or seven years and they are watertight at the back.

Both have an array of talent up top but Limerick have a better defence and that might stand them in good stead going into the match.

Division 1B final: Clare v Dublin

It's a game that both managers will be eager to get into the legs on the eve of the Munster Championship and Leinster Championship. Both sides have navigated their way through a relatively easy 1B campaign and I think this game will play out the way the first game played out in Ennis which was a cracker.

It will be a tight encounter but I just see Clare getting over the line in that last quarter, with that man Tony Kelly, once again, coming up with goods.
