Minus the services of their An Ghaeltacht and Daingean Uí Chúis contingent from their respective All-Ireland exploits, Kerry have named a team with just seven survivors from the All-Ireland final for their Allianz Division 1 opener against Roscommon on Sunday (2pm).

While All-Stars Joe O'Connor, Sean O’Shea and David Clifford will lead the attack, manager Jack O’Connor has offered the likes of Evan Looney, Armin Heinrich, Liam Smith and Tomas Kennedy the chance to impress at Fitzgerald Stadium.

Kerry: Shane Murphy, Evan Looney, Jason Foley, Dylan Casey, Armin Heinrich, Mike Breen, Tadhg Morley, Sean O’Brien, Liam Smith, Joe O’Connor, Sean O’Shea, Michael Burns, David Clifford, Tomas Kennedy, Tony Brosnan.

Galway have named their team to face Mayo in their intriguing Division 1 opener at Pearse Stadium on Sunday (1.45pm). The Tribesmen will be without John Maher, who was earlier today named as captain for the coming season.

A week after finding the net against the same opposition in the FBD final, Maigh Cuilinn’s Fionn McDonagh gets another chance to impress at corner-forward, with his namesake Oisin of Naomh Anna Leitir Móir taking up residence in the other corner as manager Pádraic Joyce assesses his options in the full-forward line with Young Footballer of the Year nominee Matthew Thompson studying at the University of California in Berkeley until May.

Shane Walsh and Cein D’Arcy, fresh from his extended club run with Ballyboden St Enda’s, are among the subs with Damien Comer still working his way back to full fitness.
