Ballysaggart man Pat Bennett has been named as the new Carlow senior hurling manager following Tom Mullally's departure last week.

His appointment is subject to ratification at the next meeting of the county board's executive.

Bennett has a wealth of experience as a hurling coach and manager.

Most recently he linked up with Davy Fitzgerald’s backroom team at Antrim last year.

He has also previously worked with Wexford, Waterford and guided Fern's, St Aidan’s to the Wexford Senior Hurling Championship title in 2022.

He has also been a member of managerial teams Kerry.

Bennett’s ratification will come following the departure of previous manager Mullally, who stepped down last week. Mullally had enjoyed five very progressive years with the side.

With his track record, passion and knowledge of the game, Bennett’s name would invariably have been in the mix as a future replacement for Mullally but now he gets to lead the team in the 2026 season.

Carlow will operate in Division 1B of the National League next season and will be intent on reclaiming the Joe McDonagh Cup.
